Mother Durga (September 19-21, 2009)

Mother Durga is white pure flaming Shakti, Mother of all beings. Her face is often serene and beautiful. She has eight arms each holding an instrument of Her power.  She blesses with Her right hand, with Her second hand She holds the golden rattle with which She heals and controls all the elements. With Her third hand She holds a sword to cut free ignorance and protect the innocent. Her fourth, highest hand spins the universe which She oversees and controls. In Her right hand She holds the lotus of Enlightenment and Supreme Merit. Her lowest left hand is closed denoting Her secret powers and gifts. Her second hand holds a golden bow of protection, and Her highest hand holds the conch shell which was a present from Lord Krishna. She blows out all evil and creates with sound the new life for this New Age. Wearing three crowns: of the lower, middle and celestial worlds, Durga rules with strength and peace.

Durga rides upon the fierce tiger and none approaches without Her bidding. Some say She is the Mother of Kalii-ma.

When worshipping Durga know you will melt down like wax and She will reform you with Her Beauty and Grace. Once you are Hers, She will protect you and open opportunities for your Path. Durga is loved, feared and revered as the Great Mother of all creation.
