The Lotus and the Rose
Siddhartha Gautama was born a rich prince; Jesus of Nazareth was born in an ordinary manger.
The Lotus became the Buddha; the Rose became the Christ.
Siddhartha newly died, seeking Wisdom through austerity; Jesus simply lived, exemplifying Love as the Path.
Gautama meditated under the ancient bodhi tree; Jesus Christ suffered and died upon a wooden cross.
The Buddha attained Perfect Enlightenment; The Christ took the sins of the world.
The Wise Sage resounded, “Let earth be my witness!” The Great Master taught, “Love ye, one another.”
The earth rumbled, the Dakinis* wept; The sun darkened, the holy women prayed.
The Buddha released souls from the Wheel. Jesus Christ resurrected, later Ascending into Heaven.
Gautama Buddha became the Lord of the World. Lord Jesus the Christ became the Prince of Peace!
